Harnwell: Ukrainian Parliament Votes Down Zelensky’s Bill To Widen Draft And Punish “Draft-Dodgers”

“Nothing will happen under the law on mobilisation. Neither today nor tomorrow. Nor in the near future.“

So said a Ukrainian MP for the opposition Voice party. The Opposition (or that part of it which Zelensky hasn’t yet proscribed) is against widening the draft and successfully blocked — for now — the government. Why?!

Because the Opposition is perfectly aware how little popular support the war now has in the country. Ukrainians aren’t jealous of those who thus far have avoided fighting on the frontline — they want to protect them from doing so!
