Romania Farmers

First the Netherlands, then Germany, and now Romania!

Romanian farmers and truckers participated in a spontaneous demonstration in Bucharest and other major cities on Wednesday in protest against the government.

Farmers are angry at the blocking of agricultural subsidies and believe the government hasn't acted sufficiently to protect them from cheap grain imports from Ukraine. Truckers are unhappy with the high costs of road taxes, fuel, and insurance.

Minister of Agriculture Florin Barbu has promised meetings with the relevant federations next week to discuss their concerns.
