South Africa has brought a genocide case against Israel to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). In the first day of deliberations, lawmakers made a compelling case against Israel which included war crimes. But how will this court, which can issue an interim verdict, hold Israel to account, when it has no authority to enforce them?

Meanwhile, Iran has urged the ICJ to treat the charges brought against the Israeli regime by South Africa “impartially” and not to give in to US pressures.
