Matthew Joseph Medlin, a 39-year-old from Portland, Oregon, has had a tumultuous life marked by repeated incarcerations and a visible decline due to drug addiction.

His criminal journey began at the age of 18, with his mugshots over the years showing a clear deterioration in his appearance, reflecting the severe impact of his meth addiction.

Medlin's life in and out of jail has been documented through a series of increasingly alarming mugshots, each one telling a story of his ongoing struggle with drug use and criminal behavior.

In a notable incident, Medlin made headlines when he escaped from the Columbia River Correctional Institute (CRCI) in North Portland, just six days before his scheduled release.

He managed to scale the fence and flee, only to be re-arrested a few hours later at a nearby Jack in the Box restaurant. At the time of his escape, Medlin had been serving time for charges including sex abuse, assault, and burglary.

His re-arrest involved a brief resistance but ended without incident after the arrival of a canine unit. He was treated for injuries likely sustained from the razor wire during his escape and faced additional charges.

Over the past decade, Medlin's mugshot has been captured on more than a dozen occasions, primarily for crimes associated with theft and burglary. Each of these images serves as a stark illustration of how his meth addiction has wreaked havoc on his life.

In one of his recent run-ins with the law, Medlin was accused of causing damage to multiple vehicles, exhibiting erratic behavior, and resisting arrest.
