Generative AI is sweeping across the professional field, but the images it produces have an Achilles Heel. That Achilles Heel... is Copyright... because the models are now precisely replicating pop culture films, video games, and characters after their architects pretended that they were not in fact trained on that very same copyrighted work.
Bottom line... AI is facing a tidal shift in policy (primarily Stability AI, Midjourney and OpenAI with ChatGPT) as it comes under fire from every angle on the basis of stealing creative property. (and rightly so)
