Escape from Egypt! The 10 Plagues & traveling through the Wilderness, Evidence of the Exodus [2/4]

Ancient civilizations are always good at bragging about their victories and exploits on monuments, on buildings, and in documents. Not so much when it comes to disasters and failures. So what evidence is there for something as devastating as the plagues of Egypt? There is one discovery that gives us a possible insight into the plagues from an Egyptian perspective. Additionally, this lesson will cover the trek of the Hebrews through the wilderness until the Red Sea and the timeline of their escape. The following episodes will go over the crossing and Mount Sinai.

NOTE ON NUWEIBA BEACH: The next episode will go more in depth into the actual crossing and differences in opinion on the location of the crossing. For viewers unaware of the ongoing debate around the crossing of the Red Sea, current scholars have argued about many locations including the Great Bitter Lake, the Gulf of Suez and other locations near the Sinai Peninsula. This debate is quite heated and although we expect there to be lively discussion and disagreements in the comments, this is your gentle reminder to be respectful and kind to the other person on the end of your screen.

Furthermore, there is resistance to the idea of the crossing starting at Nuweiba beach because of a gentleman named Ron Wyatt. Ron Wyatt unfortunately lacked proper scientific methodology for his research and never provided sound evidence for his claims. His work and stories are considered fraudulent by the archaeological and biblical scholars’ communities. He should not be used as a scholarly source in Biblical Archaeology. Ron Wyatt also identified Nuweiba beach as the start of the Red Sea crossing, making many scholars doubt the credibility of the location because of Wyatt’s history. We believe this may be a case of a broken clock being right twice a day (Wyatt being the broken clock). As explained in the video, there are several reasons why the geography of Nuweiba beach makes it a good candidate for the crossing, regardless of Wyatt’s credibility.
