Millions of tons of cargo are shipped via the Northern Sea Route every year. The length of the entire route, from the far-eastern city of Vladivostok to Saint Petersburg in Europe, is about half that of the journey via the Suez Canal and it can certainly compete with it, favoring the economics of cargo deliveries.
