Original poem-

A new day is dawning as the sun rises from the hills
I wake to the scent of the mountain dew
As a burning ray of light from the horizon melts the snow from the branches above
Water droplets fall to the forest floor
As the ground it breaks and the creatures of the night scatter to their homes for rest
The birds they flock, you hear them sing in joy as they wake
As I rise I hear the branches scratching on my window
And as I open my eyes I see the shadows creeping on my wall
I fear a storm is brewing as the winds are fiercely blowing, picking up the autumn leaves
I watch them float in the skies as they circle beneath the clouds
I hear the oceans calling my name
I hear them cry
I can feel their angst, the despair, I know their pain
As I take a stroll to the seaside I can feel the sands between my toes
The sweet scent of the salt water overcomes a feeling of loneliness
As I slowly wade into the ocean, deeper and deeper
Now up to my neck in water I take one last look at the life I’ll leave behind
And as the winds suddenly grow stronger my life flashes right before my eyes
Then as the waves crash down and pull me under, time stands still and everything ceases to exist
I’m dead to the world.
