This might not work for everyone, but it worked for me. My theft alarm was going off randomly at night etc. and it turns out that it was an old (intermittent) switch within the hood latch. By disconnecting the line going to the switch, and then shorting out the contacts of that line (in this case with a bent paper clip).. you are telling the computer that the hood is closed *all of the time* - and therefore there is no reason to sound the alarm. Afterwards I wrapped the connector up with electrical tape to keep out moisture.
