UK officials are hastily manoeuvring to propel a fresh piece of legislation through the corridors of parliament, a bill that, if sanctioned, will amplify the already intrusive tentacles of the Investigatory Powers Act. This act, infamously tagged as the 'Snoopers’ Charter' and activated in 2016, grants state entities the authority to amass comprehensive data on our online activities and obligates private entities to retain this information.
This legislation wields vast powers to amass and preserve the entirety of our communications, from emails to text messages, call logs, whereabouts, and even our internet browsing history. They are endowed with the capabilities to infiltrate our electronic devices, construct extensive 'personal datasets' about us, all without the slightest suspicion of criminal activities.
