Feature Presentation: Battlefields Of Yesterday

This DVD reproduction was skillfully undertaken by Master Scanner Thomas Gideon, under the auspices of the Department of Defense, specifically the Department of the Army, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, and the U.S. Army Audiovisual Center. (approximately 1974 - May 15, 1984). A decade ago, United States Army soldiers were engaged in fierce battles across the globe, witnessing one of the most intense conflicts in recorded history. Today, soldiers stand vigilant, deployed worldwide, in an effort to prevent the recurrence of such devastating warfare. In this captivating film, THE BIG PICTURE camera captures the stark contrast between the conditions of today and those of yesteryears on the European battlefields. Journeying from the shores of Normandy, through the picturesque landscapes of France, and ultimately into the heart of Germany, Signal Corps cameramen skillfully document the rugged cliffs and hedgerows, the serene forests and flowing rivers, and the striking juxtaposition of street battles against the quiet resurgence of Germany's cities.
