On December 31st, 2023, I got word that B705 departed Selkirk with a pair of CN SD70M-2’s, which are very uncommon to see around here. I took a ride to Newburgh and watched it pass early on the 1st. Later in the day on the 1st, one of our other associates caught M422 rolling thru Esopus with some interesting consists. After that was over with, I got a tip that H70 had an SD70ACC/SD70ACe/CW44-9 lashup. I couldn’t get them west, so I had to catch them east as lite power early on the 2nd. On the third, I got a tip that B780 was coming up with a rare SD70AH leader, so I went and saw that . On the fourth, I got word that H70 had an ACe/ACu/CW44-9 lashup, so I went to MQ to nab them. And then later in the day, I got a tip that CH-1 brought their leased NJT unit down the Hudson Secondary, and I was able to intercept their westbound return trip from Warwick. And then to cap it off, I got out of a funeral to find M410 coming with a grey ghost KCSM CW44AC and CP CM44AC trailing, so I went to see that, as Grey Ghost KCS/KCSM units are not common to the area. Not too shabby for a start to the New Year!
