A seriously gripping and gruesome thriller is coming to the small screen this winter, and it’s one to add to the top of your watch list immediately.

The Serial Killer's Wife, which is adapted from the Alice Hunter book of the same name, is set to grace screens later this autumn and it's everything our hibernating selves will no doubt be yearning for once the clocks turn.

For those unfamiliar with the plot of the book; imagine your favourite whodunnit set in a picture-perfect, sleepy English town and that's pretty much the premise of The Serial Killer's Wife. It's Midsomer Murders meets Girl On The Train meets Gone Girl. Do you need any more convincing?

What is The Serial Killer's Wife about?
As per the official synopsis shared by Paramount+, The Serial Killer's Wife takes place in a picturesque English town where Beth Fairchild, who’s played by Annabel Scholey, meticulously organises a surprise birthday party for her husband, Tom, played by Jack Farthing.

What begins as a party swiftly descends into chaos as the police abruptly interrupt the gathering and apprehend Tom on murder charges. Despite’s Beth’s fervent belief in her husband’s innocence, the unfurling of a life she thought she knew reveals the truth to her: that nothing is ever really as it seems.

'Beth is someone carrying immense pressure as she attempts to portray this idyllic family life. Yet, behind closed doors, these first images perfectly capture the hauntingly dark and troubled truth which seemingly lies behind the façade of it all,' Scholey said in a statement. 'It’s just the start of this very twisted story and I hope viewers will be as gripped watching it as we were in piecing it all together.'

Who will star in The Serial Killer's Wife?
The grizzly British drama will star Scholey (The Split) and Farthing (Rain Dogs), as well as Luke Treadaway as Adam, alongside Waterloo Road’s Angela Griffin.

The four-part series will be dropping on Paramount+ on 15 December - just in time for Christmas - and the trailer is now available to watch here.
