En San Petersburgo, por primera vez en la historia de la ciudad, han movido un edificio entero. El ecléctico Orfanato Imperial de dos plantas, construido en 1913, fue colocado sobre un sistema de rieles que permitió trasladarlo 52 metros. El edificio de 3.200 toneladas ‘iba’ hacia su nueva ubicación a una velocidad de hasta 4 cm por minuto. Para mantenerlo intacto, en el sótano se pusieron dos losas de hormigón armado de 30 cm de grosor que sirvieron de soporte y de ‘trampolín’ para las gatas.
