Afghanistan's Booming Dried Fruit Trade: A Comprehensive Overview
Afghanistan is a major exporter of dried natural products, including hazelnuts, almonds, pistachios, figs, raisins, nuts, dried apricots, dried berries, dried plums, and dates.
In the last 8 months, Afghanistan has exported over 3,000 tons of pine nuts to Europe, America, and China, with 2,200 tons going to China and 800 tons to Europe and America.
The total value of Afghanistan's dried fruit exports in the past year was over $300 million, but in the last 8 months alone, it exceeded $1.2 billion.
The air passage is the most profitable method of export, with over 140,000 tons worth more than $400 million of dried fruits being exported in 2021.
Northern Afghanistan is known for its fertile lands and is a favorable place for agricultural production, especially of fruits and vegetables.
Afghanistan has significant trade relations in dried fruit with Iran.
The growth in agricultural productivity and the increase in the value of agricultural products have led to a significant increase in Afghanistan's dried fruit production.
