The Killers (1946)

Directed by Robert Siodmak, based on Ernest Hemingway's short story. The story begins with two hitmen arriving in a small town to kill an ex-boxer named Ole "The Swede" Andersen. When they succeed, insurance investigator Jim Reardon sets out to uncover why The Swede, seemingly resigned to his fate, didn't resist his own murder. As Reardon investigates, he uncovers a tangled web of crime, deceit, and a femme fatale named Kitty Collins, who played a pivotal role in The Swede's downfall.
