Michael Fish's NBC26 weather forecast
This bitterly cold air mass continues to hang around as we head through the night. Temperatures will be similar to last night, but with just a bit less wind. Overnight lows will drop into the teens-below zero with wind chills continuing to be between -15 and -30. Tomorrow, more false advertising as plenty of sunshine will persist, but not helping the temperatures at all. Highs will only top out in the low- to mid-single digits above zero, but wind chills still between -10 and -25. Tomorrow night, clouds will increase ahead of the next weak weather-maker on the way, but it will still get pretty cold. Lows will bottom out in the upper-single digits below zero before gradually rising through the night. It looks like some snow is on the way for Thursday as the morning wears on. Preliminary totals will not be that high in the 1-3" range, but some enhancement near Lake Michigan could bump the totals up just a little higher. Highs will only top out in the low-teens, so salt will not be working that quickly. Most of that snow should be moving out earlier on Thursday evening. Friday looks quiet, but still pretty cold with highs only around 10. This cold snap will continue into next week the way it looks right now.
