How quaint, that the same named festival is also celebrated by the STATE Gov's and tourism in Australia, in order to profit by raising funds for cancer and various other revenue raising events in the same name as the German tradition, where does that leave the australian people's history and culture, and is it any wonder we are questioning who we are, while being led by the selected few ;

  I believe the processes of heritage is most certainly being abused in all countries; Germany is the origins of the festival , the other countries "using" the name should not be creating a copy of it for the profitibility of states and territorial gain of the tourist dollar; it leaves an empty insignificant tradition in its wake; We have seen this also in Australia where the term Indigenous/native/and aboriginal are now intertwined where once they actually meant something specific , anyone can now "identify" as aboriginal or indigenous, again a betrayel to the authentic pepople both native and caucasion who were both here for generations without a claim of ancestoral authenticity ; Its a real shame our gov's are heading down such a fake path;
