THE OLD MOVIE IN HISTORY Ben-Hur premiered in New York on November 18, 1959 after publicity work that cost 14.7 million dollars. It was the highest-grossing film of the year and in the process became the second highest-grossing film at the time, behind Gone with the Wind.

IT'S NOW The remake of the cinema classic Ben-Hur released in 2016, which features Rodrigo Santoro in the cast as Jesus, brought a loss of 47.8 million dollars (164.2 million reais, approximately) for MGM, according to the Deadline website (Nov. 11, 2016).
Synopsis
In Jerusalem, at the beginning of the 1st century, lives Judah Ben-Hur, a rich Jewish merchant. But, with the return of Messala, a friend from his youth who is now the head of the Roman legions in the city, a disagreement due to differing political views causes Messala to condemn Ben-Hur to live as a slave in a Roman galley, even though he is aware of the ex-friend's innocence. But fate will give Ben-Hur an opportunity for revenge that no one could have imagined.
