Why is the city of Maceió in the State of Alagoas in the Northeast region of Brazil sinking in the 21st century!?
This is happening and apparently with the latest civil defense studies together with the ANM (National Mining Agency) with notes that it will get worse, it is because of the collapse of 11 of the 35 Braskem mines that for years were extracting an ore called "Sal-Gema" in this region, which began in the 1970s, was closed in 2019, mainly in the Mutange neighborhood (*Region some neighborhoods).

The news reported in mid-2023, the attention on this subject, was because this region began to sink around 1.86 meters and will probably remain in a state of attention and emergency until 2025.
But past sources already report that in 2018 they already had some type of problems in Maceió, when an earthquake caused cracks in streets, houses, sinking of the ground in some neighborhoods, etc., forcing more than 55 thousand people to leave your homes, businesses, etc.

What mistakes were made by Braskem and what should have been avoided?
What we know for now is that they should have been studied, and together avoided, or unfortunately they ignored this data, is that in this location of this area of these mines, they are areas with geological faults, which probably increased the risks of environmental tragedies, adding to the fact from a city above, especially since we already know that the extraction of this ore generates points of weakness in the subsoil, which could begin to give way to the soil.
The outcome of a tragedy in the future is almost as expected!
