Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park 2022 | Part 1

We had such a fun time at this place! Custer State Park was a lot of fun and we spent about half a day here. Although we did the Wildlife Loop Road in the afternoon when animals are supposed to be hard to see, we saw a fair share. We visited the Custer State Park Visitor Center and then went up and down Iron Mountain Road! The roads at Custer State Park are windy, a bit narrow at times, and some of the tunnels can be a challenge, but we made it! As you exit the Scoval Johnson Tunnel you get an amazing view of Mount Rushmore. From there, we climbed the rest of the way up to the top of Iron Mountain, and had some tremendous views, including a better look at Mount Rushmore. From there, we went to go visit Mount Rushmore and it was breathtaking. We had heard from several people that it could be both underwhelming and overwhelming, but for us it was an incredible sight to see. After that, we went to our Harvest Host for the night at Naughti Wines/Sick N Twisted Brewery.
