What is the mental condition known as Munchausen by proxy (Gypsy Rose Blanchard's mother's case)
According to the National Library of Medicine, Munchausen by proxy is an uncommon mental disease that also happens to be a type of child maltreatment. It happens when a child's caregiver, frequently the child's mother, fabricates false signs of sickness. In extreme circumstances, a caregiver may even intentionally make a child ill for them to exhibit symptoms.
