Boston, 1979. CIA crypto analyst Adam leaves town with his wife Emma and settles in for the trip. Their boss fears they won't be able to protect Adam there, but Adam believes they need a peaceful setting in the woods to test the military code. The work he is doing could change the course of the Cold War. But it seems that the differences in this place are not exactly peaceful...
In the attic, the man finds a mysterious diary written by a man named Nicolas Hyde, who supposedly lived in the same house in the 19th century. When the diary is opened, nightmares of the past reach Adam's present, putting Adam and Emma's lives in danger. Tension builds as these two stories inevitably collide. The distant past and Nicolas, the eternal prisoner of that past, against Adam, the cryptanalyst of the Cold War. What could this lead to? Who can you trust in these turbulent times?
