Rep. Bill Johnson plans Jan. 21 House resignation
Ohio GOP Representative Bill Johnson is set to step down from Congress on January 21, taking on the role of the new head of Youngstown State University.
This move will contribute to the reduction of the already slim House GOP majority.
Following the recent resignations of Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and the expulsion of Representative George Santos (R-N.Y.),Johnson’s departure will leave Republicans with control over only 219 seats.
Once he vacates his position, the GOP can afford to lose just two members from their conference for a vote to secure passage, Politico reported.
