We love them and sometimes we can't stand them, but never the less, they are our siblings in the end. While there are some ups and downs in our relationships with our siblings, here are nine reasons why we couldn't possibly live without them! What would we ever do without them?

Brothers and sisters may fuss and fight a lot during their time together, but that does not take away from the fact they are a marvel to have. A sibling relationship is likely to be the most enduring of our lives. The impact they have on our young and adult lives is enormous, they shape our history and our character, to a far greater extent than is usually acknowledged. Siblings are not just second editions in relation to the parents, but have a profound importance in their own right. The relationships with our siblings are ineradicably fixed in our psyches.

Siblings who cherish each other surely have a relationship unlike any other. This little girl, dressed to the nines, in Brazil was attending her graduation party. From the moment the dancing begins, she walks over to her brother, wheelchair-bound from cerebral palsy, and brings him onto the dance floor. This has to be one of the most precious dances you've ever seen!

"There was a graduation party in the city, and my daughter wanted her brother to be there with her. He has cerebral palsy and the two have an unconditional love for one another. In the words of my daughter 'If the brother wasn't there, she would not participate in the party,” said the children’s parent and we are moved to the core. Does someone have a tissue?

Growing up with a sibling isn’t always easy. Just when you start getting independent, able to do stuff on your own, you have this tiny human that wants to be by your side every step of the way and you would much rather not have them tag along. But at the end of the day siblings are the friends that never go away. They are always there for you to listen to woes and hear about your day, without any prejudice. That is why we love them so much.

When the age gap between siblings as big, there comes a time when the older siblings has to leave for school or abroad for service. The little siblings have it the hardest, suddenly finding themselves left alone, without someone to guide them and listen to what they have to say. That is why reunions are bitter sweet - they come back for a visit and you try your best to catch up, but the time will come again for your brother or sister to go back where they came from.

This little girl has been without her big sister for a long time, so when she came back home for her birthday, the baby sister had it all planned out. She would go with mom and dad to the airport. She will bring this big Mylar balloon that says “Happy Birthday” in big bright colors. She is so excited to see her finally, that she turns back and forth, looking for her best friend.

She hears someone say “excuse me, little girl” and when she turns, there is a familiar face with a bright smile and a warm hug waiting for her! We can’t remember the last time we saw someone hug for so long...
