“Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye has called on citizens to stone gays, intensifying a crackdown on sexual minorities in a country where LGBT people already face social ostracism and up to two years in prison if found guilty of same-sex crimes. “If you want to curse a country, allow homosexuality,” Ndayishimiye said.
“I even think that these people, if we find them in Burundi, it would be better to bring them to the stadium and stone them to death. And this cannot be considered a sin,” the president said, describing homosexuality as a problem imported from the West.”
