Christian Bible Reading Plan & Challenge

I give my personal idea & plan for reading the bible in 2024 as well as an idea for a challenge anyone could take but few would try and even less would be successful at.

Reading plan breakdown goes like this:

The Bible has 1189 chapters 929 ch for Old Testament 260 ch in New Testament. 595 chapter is roughly half the bible with a difference of a few verses.

A year has 365 days in it. The year 2024 will have 366 days due to being a leap year.

This reading plan is based on chapters read per day. Bible chapters differ in sizes & length so the amount of time one puts in will differ day to day which means if desired more chapters can be read to get ahead or make up for an unexpected delays.

based on the the year being 365 days on average & the bible being 1189 chapters long reading 2 chapters a day would take 595 days to read the entire bible once. Reading 3 chapters a day gets us close but is about 100 chapter shy of the goal. Looking at 2024, 366 days x 3 chapter = 1,098. This is how we know reading 3 chapters a day doesn’t complete the bible in 366 days. So for the first 9 months 3 chapters a day then increase to 4 chapters a day for the last 3 months. This will complete the bible in a years time.

Now if one wants to be a bit ambitious & read the bible more then once we double & triple the total amount of chapters. So again the bible is 1,189
chapters long so 1189 x 2 = 2378 & 1189 x 3 = 3567 So....

366 x 3 = 1098 * more than enough if done faithfully.
366 x 4 = 1464
366 x 5 = 1830
366 x 6 = 2196
366 x 7 = 2562* 7 chapters a day will read the bible twice in one year because 366 day x 7 chapter a day = 2562. The total amount of bible chapters 1189 x 2 = 2378

366 x 8 = 2928
366 x 9 = 3294
366 x 10 = 3660* 10 chapters a day will read the bible three times in one year because 366 x 10 = 3360. The total amount of bible chapters 1189 x 3 = 3567

By not trying to be on the mark and finish by Dec 31st we give ourselves breathing room for the unexpected popping up but that isn't an excuse to slack off, the bible should be read daily.

This is a look at reading the bible based on chapters but simply reading the bible once in a year can be done with reading around 15 to 30 minutes a day. It depends on how fast the reader reads but it doesn’t take much effort. It is thought one could read the bible in around 3 days, 72 hours, if they go nonstop. Who wants to take on that challenge?
Many audio bibles can go around that amount of time or longer but it should take an average reader 96 hours, 4 full days, to complete such a goal.
