The Chiefs' Barry Word exploded for 200 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries, leading Kansas City to 310 yards on the ground. The Chiefs rolled up 566 total yards and completed 60% of their third down opportunities against the Lions. In a losing effort, Sanders had a career-high 135 yards on five receptions while gaining 90 yards on 16 carries. Rookie QB Andre Ware saw playing time, and looked impressive in the final minutes.
