Keir Starmer is proud of his year, but he has no right to be!

Keir Starmer talks of pride and achievement in his New Year's message, but people queue up to tell him he has nothing to be proud of.
Right, so Keir Starmer. It’s the end of the year, you might have guessed he’d have some kind of New Year message to pass on to the people of the UK, though sadly it’s never the resignation announcement many of us keep hoping for. For the man as shameless as he is dishonest, it was an excuse to once pretend he cares about anyone except himself, by talking of pride and achievement, talking of war, in Ukraine and Israel and Gaza, before turning the whole thing into a party political broadcast for himself. I found it to be as mind numbing as it was angering, not one apology for the mistakes he’s made, the stupidity he’s spouted, or the insults to so many on the left, therefore you can imagine that not just I have something to say about his New Year message, but a great many people took to social media to have their say on it too. Starmer has ended the year as he will go on through 2024 – being reviled by most people in this country and if he does end up as Prime Minister at some point this year, it will be despite him, not because of him.
Right, so Keir Starmer, it was another one of those speeches to end the year off was it Damo? You might be thinking and yes, it was like most of his others – pretending everything is a relaunch as he tries to forget everything he’s done so far, perpetually blowing up in his face as things do, but that’s what happens when you lie like a rug to the British public time after time and never apologise for any of it.
So let’s get it out of the way and then we can shred it can’t we! Starmer said:
‘On behalf of the Labour Party, I’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.
2023 has been a year of pride and achievement. For the Lionesses, yet again so close to doing an unprecedented double. And of course a year when our country stepped into a new era, with a new king, King Charles III, crowned in the Spring.
It has also been another tough year economically for millions of people. And beyond our shores a time of great insecurity, with war still raging in Ukraine and enormous suffering in Israel and Gaza. The Labour Party will do everything we can in 2024 to push for a political solution to that conflict. A secure Israel, alongside a viable Palestinian state. A hope that may be fragile, but that must be kept alive because there is always power in that word hope, it is the fuel of change, the oxygen of a better future and this year, in Britain, the power to shape the future of our country will rest in your hands. In the Labour Party, we’ve been building to this for four years. We’re confident we have a plan that can move our country forward, end the cost of living crisis, take back our streets, get the NHS back on its feet, cheaper energy bills for your home, more opportunities for your children, but most of all I’m ready to renew our politics, so it once again serves our country.
