Three dead in airplane crash near Batesville, Indiana

All three people aboard a small airplane are dead after it crashed Saturday evening northwest of Batesville. A dog aboard the plane also died. Another dog survived and was evaluated by a veterinarian. The Cessna went down behind a home on Hamburg Road at about 9 p.m. The single-engine plane was traveling from Kansas City, Missouri to Frederick, Maryland, according to Indiana State Police Sgt. Stephen Wheeles. He said it's not yet clear why the plane crashed.
