Lantern VAWT Preliminary Analysis

I wanted to take a look at one of those Chinese lantern VAWTs that people hate so much. They are advertised as being 600W turbines but really only put out about 6 Watts in a strong breeze. I wanted to see why, and determine if the bearings and generator can be used in a VAWT of my own creation. So here I take some measurements on the generator and estimate what the turbine should be doing before assembling the turbine along with the rest of the system and putting it on a pole.
