A hours-long standoff with a shooter continued into the night at a Dearborn County home Friday, according to Indiana State Police. Law enforcement officers have surrounded a house in the 5700 block of Dutch Hollow Road for several hours after a shot was fired at Dearborn County deputies and Aurora police making a welfare check Friday afternoon, according to Sgt. Steven Wheeler. Wheeler said authorities believe the shooter was still in the house as of 6 p.m. ET. He said they were hoping for "a safe conclusion to the incident." "There is no danger to the public," Wheeler said at a news briefing. "We feel confident the person responsible is still in the residence. We urge that person who is inside to come out peacefully."
