In December, Border Patrol encountered a historic influx of migrants who entered the U.S. unlawfully, surpassing any previous monthly figures in the agency’s history, as per internal federal statistics obtained by CBS News.

The data underscores the enormity of the exceptional migration crisis currently confronting the Biden administration.

During the initial 27 days of December, U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended over 225,000 migrants who crossed the southern border unofficially, away from designated crossing points, according to preliminary Department of Homeland Security statistics.

This count excludes individuals entering through legal ports of entry, where the Biden administration has been processing approximately 50,000 migrants each month, largely utilizing a smartphone app-based system, CBS News reported.
