Hammerhead shark lurks near a group of people in eerie drone video
A drone captured a group of people watching a hammerhead shark swim right toward them as they stood in the shallows off the coast of Palm Beach, Florida, footage uploaded on July 26 shows. Drone footage by Evan Parness shows the large hammerhead swim toward the group, who stand their ground in the waist-high water, before the shark – widely believed to be harmless to humans – switches course. Parness told Storyful the shark was a “great hammerhead,” and that the creature was 14 feet long and probably weighed about 1,000 pounds. He wrote on Instagram that the video was recorded “just feet from the shoreline,” adding that the people in the water were his friends. “They were able to see the shark’s massive dorsal fin the entire time,” Parness said. “This was easily the most intense clip I’ve ever filmed.”
