North Korea’s Kim vows to bolster war readiness to repel US-led confrontations

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has called for an enhancement of war readiness to counter what he described as unprecedented confrontational actions led by the United States, according to state media reports on Thursday.

Meanwhile, South Korea has pledged a robust response to any provocations from the North.

Kim’s statements, made during a crucial political meeting focused on outlining state objectives for 2024, suggest that North Korea is likely to persist in conducting weapons tests aimed at modernizing its nuclear arsenal.

Analysts believe that Kim is potentially positioning his strengthened arsenal as a bargaining chip in future diplomatic engagements with Washington, possibly following the U.S. presidential election in November 2024, the Associated Press reported.
