This special "The Church on Ruby Road" is Ncuti Gatwa's first official appearance as the Doctor even though he appeared briefly at the end of The Giggle as part of Doctor Who's 60th anniversary. This episode also marks the introduction of the new companion, Ruby Sunday (played by Millie Gibson), and the beginning of a new era.
