The Colorado secretary of state is set to add former President Donald Trump to the 2024 Colorado primary ballot following an appeal by Republicans to the Supreme Court.

After the Colorado GOP appealed the state Supreme Court’s decision to exclude Trump from the primary ballot, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold announced on Wednesday that Trump would be included on the ballot by the Jan. 5 certification deadline, unless the U.S. Supreme Court upholds the lower court’s decision or opts not to take on the case.

“Donald Trump engaged in insurrection and was disqualified under the Constitution from the Colorado Ballot,” Griswold said in a press release.

“The Colorado Supreme Court got it right. This decision is now being appealed,” she continued. “I urge the U.S. Supreme Court to act quickly given the upcoming presidential primary election.”

Trump’s inclusion on the ballot presents a unique situation for the U.S. Supreme Court, which now faces conflicting rulings—Colorado’s controversial decision and the Michigan Supreme Court’s rejection of an attempt to remove Trump from the primary ballot in that state, Fox News is reporting.
