University Of Wisconsin La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow Fired For Starring In Adult Movies

The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents fired UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow after he and his wife appeared in adult movies. The 63-year-old and his wife, Carmen Wilson, who chaired the search committee that selected Gow to lead UW-La Crosse, married in 2014. The couple posted videos to adult websites in the last two months and published two books under pseudonyms detailing their experiences. UW System President Jay Rothman said “his actions were abhorrent” and “subjected the university to significant reputational harm." Meanwhile, UW Board of Regents President Karen Walsh said Gow’s actions “were undeniably inconsistent with his role as chancellor." Gow told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which is a member of the USA Today network, that his actions fall within his right to free speech. "There’s nothing said about the University of Wisconsin; there’s nothing said about the chancellor.

So someone else would have to make those associations and then someone would have to say those are problematic," Gow told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Gow’s contract with the university said, “The Chancellor may not engage in activity that may be adverse to the interest of the University." Jay Rothman said Gow has been placed on administrative leave while an outside law firm conducts a full investigation into the matter. Gow, the longest serving of the current chancellors, has led the campus since 2007 & used the name “Sexy Happy Couple” for his exploits.
