Love IS the Answer

As I sit, day by day, studying, praying, and musing about the world around me, I often wonder…if asked the question, how would I fix things if I were in charge?
The answer becomes clearer, day by day.
In early America, we were building a nation based on the simple principle…. “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” Straight out of the Bible. No denomination or creed, but a simple truth which creates for a people wishing to live together a “near perfect” environment. We lived as “a covenant people,” committed to the success of each other.

Love, at its core, is selfless giving. That gives us a common purpose. So, it was normal for Americans to sacrifice for each other instead of putting themselves first. It was love that led our boys off to fight wars keeping their “loved ones” safe at home. Out of love, people volunteered to build churches, schools, communities, parks, and other things for all to share and enjoy, now and into the future. That built a common vision and strong bonds between neighbors.
Speaking of which, in those days you knew who your neighbors were. You also knew you could COUNT on them. They were always there for each other in times of need or when facing trouble. Farmers built each other’s barns together and shared equipment to grow crops needed to feed a growing population. Friends, family, and “church family” became midwives and pallbearers. They genuinely loved each other.
From the Good Book, we knew our “neighbors” might also live halfway around the world. Since, they, too, were God’s children, we were brothers. So, we sacrificed our young to free victims in other nations.
Yes, love was the norm. Putting others before ourselves not only made sense; it made America great.

I remember back in the ‘70s things started to change. Suddenly individual desires and self-fulfillment took priority over all else, as we were persuaded to “do our OWN thing.” Owning a McMansion, a fancy car, and a big bank account became more important than working together to advance others. Their ongoing “welfare” was no longer our concern. Now, they became the responsibility of the government, and that created a faceless, uncaring bureaucracy, which morphed into a massive, political boondoggle.
Such out-of-control materialism, the unprincipled love of money, and unbridled personal desires, as embraced by that first “Me-First” generation, clearly became the root of much evil we see around us.

So, if asked how I would fix things; it’s really simple.
Our only choice is “in with the love and out with the tyrants.”

The rule of fear must come to an end, so that the rule of love may once again reign supreme, as the Creator of the universe had intended from before the beginning of time.

“In the beginning, God” and “God IS Love.” Therefore “in the beginning, ‘Love’!”
