What happened
chrysanthemums
Chrysanthemums turned into a herbarium. Dead dried flowers do not fall to the ground. This makes a lot of sense. The dried stem retains heat in the root. The dead stem will stand all winter to keep the root alive. In early spring we will cut off the dead stem. And then a new stem will begin to grow. It is amazing. But this is how the inanimate helps the living!
