Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit (Woodstock Performance)
14
One of the best live performances of all times was when Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane sang 'White Rabbit' at Woodstock in 1969. As an allegory of the children's story 'Alice in Wonderland', the song highlights that story's metaphors and imagery relating to psychedelic drugs. Many of those in the audience would have been on psychedelic drugs during this performance and Woodstock itself was a cultural event that symbolized the psychedelic-infused counter-culture of the late 1960s and early 1970s. If there is any one performance that could capture the zeitgeist of that tumultuous period of Western history, it would be this one.
