Spruce Knob, tops out at 4,863 feet making it the highest point in West Virginia. It's not only the WV State Highpoint, but the 14th-most isolated U.S. State Highpoint and the 24th-highest U.S. State Highpoint. The road is curvy and tight as you make your way up. There is a large parking area up top. We hiked the 0.2 miles on a super easy trail to the Spruce Knob Observation Tower. A short climb up the tower and on to the huge viewing platform will give you an amazing 360-degree view of the surrounding Allegheny Mountains and Monongahela National Forest. There was also a loop trail that ran about 0.7 mile around the summit.
