Egypt has submitted an ambitious peace proposal to end the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip. Egypt's 3-step plan includes a 2-week truce and the release of 40 hostages, followed by the formation of a technocratic Palestinian government and the IDF's pullout from the strip. Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh was in Cairo on a four-day visit to hold talks with Egyptian authorities.
