From The Vault: Bengals linebacker David Pollack talks about missing football

Pollack broke his neck – specifically, his C-6 vertebra – tackling Browns running back Reuben Droughns on Sept. 17, 2006 at PBS. Pollack wore a halo for three months but had no injury to his spine and looked forweard to reurning to football. A Bengals doctor originally said Pollack might be able to play again, but Pollack missed the 2007 season and officially retired in April 2008 even though doctors had cleated him to play. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said Pollack told him he “was not completely comfortable medically.”
