The Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) approved the use of Mil Mi-171A2 helicopters at airports and runways at altitudes of up to 5,000 meters above sea level.
During further certification tests, the aircraft performed several dozen flights in the mountainous regions of Kabardino-Balkaria and the foothills of Elbrus. At the same time, the aircraft's load gradually increased, bringing the takeoff weight to the maximum allowable 13 tons. With all cargo variants, flights proceeded normally.

In a high-altitude location, the Mi-171A2 was also subjected to tests with simulation of emergency situations: the helicopter demonstrated safe landing and takeoff by simulating engine failure.
Previously, the machine was tested in extreme environmental conditions: these helicopters can be operated in temperatures between -50°C and +50°C.

The Mil Mi-171A2 is produced by the affiliated holding company Russian Helicopters.
