What makes December 25th such a special day?

On the first day of Winter, the sun stops its southward journey and rises on the exact same latatudimal degree for 3 days. Then on Christmas morning, the sun moves one degree back northward beginning it's trip to the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of spring. In ancient times anything moving steadily all year that suddenly stopped was said to have died.Therefore God's Sun was said to be dead for 3 days before being symbolically reborn on December 25th.
