The Completionist Charity Scam Fails to Match What Twitch Just Did...

The season of giving is also the season of scamming, apparently. Not satisfied with the downfall of the Completionist, the biggest streamers around (xQc, Ludwig and Asmongold, to name a few) have found themselves in a charity debacle of their own.

Brandfluence, formerly known as Softgiving, helped raise a staggering $6.2 million for charity in a very short period of time in collaboration with 37 popular creators. The funny thing is, the money was supposed to go to Games For Love, but only $2.6 million made it to the charity. That means over half the money raised was taken by Softgiving for "expenses." Even worse, for a vast majority of their operation time, they did not disclose how the money was being used!

Moral of the story, if you want to do good in the world, don't go through a middleman, donate directly or volunteer. If you learn anything from the Jirard situation or this, it should be charities don't care about the causes they claim to support, the care about looking good.
