Our society likes to look good but there is a wide chasm between looking good and genuinely acting the part. We have made people our god and what's worse still is we think we can fool them or overpower them. We think of others as stupid or as resources to be utilized. "Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered." Proverbs 11:21 The old saying goes, "You can't save your face and your ass at the same time." In other words, you can't be concerned with what you look like and be authentic. We have replaced authenticity with short cuts and manipulation and the only people we have cheated is ourselves. We have cheated ourselves first and foremost of a genuine relationship with ourself but the fact is that we have simultaneously cheated everyone around us as well.
