Brazilian lawmakers approve controversial bill to build highway through Amazon

Lawmakers in Brazil approved a bill to relax environmental measures that will pave the way to revive a decades-old project of constructing a controversial highway through the Amazon rainforest.

The bill earned criticisms from experts who warned that the decision will threaten the future of the world's largest tropical rainforest.
