Bodycam Footage of a Man Armed with Scissors Shot by NYPD Officer After The Man Rushed Him

On April 21, 2023, at approximately 0836 hours, a witness called 9-1-1 and reported that Mr. Gordon was observed at 972 Washington Ave. walking around and holding a pair of scissors in a which was concerning.

At approximately 0855 hours, Officer Penadiaz and Officer Voce, and additional officers, located the subject who had returned to the named location and still in possession on the scissors.

As the officers approached the subject, they ordered him to drop his weapon. The subject threw a backpack at officer Penadiaz and began to charge at him with the scissors. Officer Penadiaz discharged three shots from his service weapon. The subject was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground. The subject was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
